I am André Markus Appel. With more than 20 years of experience in software engineering, I now operate as a Fractional CTO to secure your innovation agenda.
My background is distinctive because it spans the full technology stack: from low-level hardware to cloud architecture and artificial intelligence. I have programmed microcontrollers in C/C++, orchestrated Linux servers, and designed complex business applications in PHP, C#, and Rust.
The "Zero-Failure" Culture
I developed this level of rigor in environments where failure is not an option. My experience has led me to design critical architectures, including:
- ✓ Emergency Infrastructure: Design of a secure intranet portal and digital vault for Fire and Rescue Services (SDIS), integrating advanced encryption protocols and strong authentication.
- ✓ Industrial IoT & Real-Time Systems: End-to-end creation of MQTT communication infrastructures for global prototypes of autonomous solar charging stations and vehicle telemetry systems.
- ✓ Medical Artificial Intelligence: At Alaxione, development of a medical voicebot orchestrating LLMs in real time while complying with stringent Healthcare Data Hosting (HDS) requirements.
My Pragmatic CTO Philosophy
The software industry is suffering from chronic over-engineering. Too many initiatives fail because vendors sell complex machinery where a simple, robust solution would have delivered greater value. My role is to protect your investments by selecting technology that serves your business—not the other way around.
